So what are the best vinyl plank flooring brands out there and how does LifeProof compare? Below we’ve selected four top brands and stacked them up against LifeProof flooring. LifeProof luxury vinyl flooring has interlocking “drop and lock” end joints for floating installation. The manufacturer specifically prohibits gluing because it would not allow the flooring to expand and contract with normal changes in environmental conditions. Vinyl flooring is known for its great looks, easy maintenance and durability.

For example, CoreTec Plus luxury vinyl flooring has a 10-year commercial warranty to go with the Lifetime residential coverage. To this point, we’ve only mentioned the residential warranty. And that’s because LifeProof vinyl flooring’s commercial warranty is… not great. The average commercial warranty only lasts five years, and doesn’t cover a host of common occurrences like wear. You should not install this flooring on stairs or over carpet, other floating floors including laminate, rubber, cork, foam underlayment or cushioned vinyl.
Virtually All Vinyl Plank Can Be Installed as a Floating Floor—Not just LifeProof
Permalink We just installed over smaller tiles and there was no problem. At first I disliked the non-shiny, matte finish of this flooring but have come to appreciate it very much as it is both beautiful and not slippery. Permalink I had Lifeproof Chiffon and Lace installed in my condo November 2020 and I loved it!
Reviews for these products are mixed at best. First-time buyers seem to like them, but people who have had other types of vinyl rarely do. We’re not going to say that LifeProof is terrible. There are many lower-end EVP flooring options that are a lot worse. If you’re unfamiliar with this brand, don’t worry—you’re not alone.

We have 5/8 of an incredible difference between our LifeProof vinyl and our tile. It still looks great and we continue to get complements on it. We will be doing our upstairs in it or something very similar, but will have the steps stained to match the flooring instead of spending $800 just for the pieces for our steps. Permalink Hi, hopefully this reaches someone that can help.

But, there’s nothing about LifeProof’s waterproof qualities that makes it better than any other waterproof option. This means it’s much easier to ship and install—but there’s a general rule about flooring (and maybe anything that’s supposed to be durable) that more weight means more strength. There’s a reason the most durable wood flooring also tends to be the heaviest.
LifeProof Flooring Comes in a Huge Variety of Styles
Proximity Mills is one of the most popular flooring brands in the country—and for good reason. Of course, none of those problems even come close to “the big issue”. Namely, that many LifeProof vinyl flooring reviews note that the product’s interlocking tabs break super easily. Lifeproof vinyl plank flooring is a budget friendly, waterproof rigid core EVP , sold exclusively at Home Depot for between $2.69 and $3.99 per sq.ft. LifeProof vinyl plank flooring is sold exclusively at Home Depot, available in stores and online. It is referred to as LifeProof luxury vinyl plank and tile.

The first table shows LifeProof flooring costs. This flooring is not made with any recycled material, though many building products are. While it is recyclable, the limited number of vinyl recycling facilities cannot accommodate the volume. However, we noticed that the installation guiderecommends acclimating the flooring for two days before commercial installation.
LifeProof Vinyl Flooring vs. Proximity Mills
However, considering that most LifeProof flooring reviews mention how easy it is to break the interlocking clasps… maybe it’s not really that DIY-friendly after all. Even laminate flooring has waterproof choices nowadays, like Mohawk’s RevWood. Check out our vinyl plank vs. laminate guide if you’re curious to see how they stack up. Lots of the LifeProof reviews we read mentioned that the product’s residential warranty is excellent.

The LifeProof Rigid Core multilayer approach with a wear layer enhanced with ceramic beads should produce excellent long-term stability and wear. Sustainability, however; goes beyond transparency and chemical management. HMTX believes that sustainability requires leadership, raising industry standards for chemical safety, social justice and environmental responsibility. The first thing to note about LifeProof LVP is that the brand isn’t divided neatly into categories like UniClic & glue-down or Floorte & Floorte Pro . LifeProof Vinyl Plank Flooring Reviews that discuss the styles, features and best uses for each.
This can eventually cause pieces to come apart. Also, some DIY installers find the interlocking fittings a little cheap on the thinner planks, and they can break. On the plus side, DIY is quite easy for anyone with moderate skills. Here are features to consider and compare with other LVP brands you are considering. The LifeProof with a 12 mil wear layer is also suitable for offices, lobbies, small retail shops and similar light-commercial settings.
We’ve created tables for Shaw, Armstrong, Mohawk, NuCore and the other LVT/LVP brands we’ve reviewed. The Features section goes deeper into what makes each line unique, plus their pros and cons. Almost double the thickness of the 6.5-mil floors, the 12-mil options are notably more durable .
The method is called embossed in register, or EIR. This is a small selection of 8mm thick flooring in planks and a few tiles sizes. Most are standard wood planks, though a few parquet looks are mixed in. Styles include classic hardwoods like oak in a dozen or more colors from light, whitewashed hues to rich chocolate browns and plenty of charcoal shades. Distressed and weathered wood, herringbone parquet and stone looks complete the wide array of choices.

COREtec is known for its COREtec Plus line, which uses cork in its base layer for strength. Don’t worry—you don’t have to worry about the pros and cons of cork flooring here—it just adds bounce and sound-dampening properties to the floor. COREtec is the original creator of WPC vinyl flooring. And while it’s more expensive than LifeProof flooring, we believe it’s also more innovative.
